… we’re almost ready to go. How fast 4 weeks can pass. We visited a floating forest, had a last look at sydney and a last pie. now we are packing up and prepare ourselves for our 330am pickup towards the airport with a pizza feast, courtesy of domino’s. Signing off now. See y’all on…
Weather was bad today, rain on and off so we had so seek shelter here and there … Oh look, a shoppingcenter, perfect timing 😉
… as we had to leave one comrad behind this morning. it’s been a great trip with you, friend. As we dropped of our road-trip-companion off this morning. Walking through the city we passed a couple of sights … Then we were lucky enough to change our bridge climb to today, given…
… now you are on google streetview 😜 So when you ever streetview the area between sydney and blue mountains, in particular the area of hazelbrook along the great western highway, and find a blue toyota camry with 4 people in it, that might be us …. WE … ARE … FAMOUS ! Nice…
After a stroll through newcastle and a dolphin sighting we reached our last stop here in oz. Moved into a friends place here in sydney and will discover more of the city over the next couple of days. Updates might be sparse at times due to limited internet access though!
… the last two days in retrospect. Your browser does not support this video 🙁
… and drive-heavy today on our last long stretch of road towards sydney. Still we managed to hit a beautiful place at dorrigo national park.
… are impressions from yesterday.
… to wake up to! Nice welcome from our host. Lazy day to come today.
… When we wake up tomorrow, i am sure. Made our way to byron bay with a stop at the koala sanctuary to complete our wildlife encounters (this time with a little assistance). After dusk we arrived at our pad up in the hills above byron bay … What we could see in the dark…
last night there was another “shower” … quite impressive. either the houses here are not sound proofed at all or it really was *that* loud … “woke up and stayed awake” loud … note to self: showers are different south of the equator 😉 but on the upside, the weather today was perfect. blue skies,…
… after a leisurely drive from hervey bay down the sunshine coast, well today it was more the “coast” as the lack of sunshine really painted a different picture, we arrived in brisbane. unfortunately the weather is not as nice here today, but really not a problem. only the notion of “showers in the dry…
A dingo with some stolen cheese on the beach 😉 spontaneous plane flight around the Island Barry our tourguide and driver with his eyecatching yellow socks 🙂 sunset on the ferry back to the mainland after a great day on Fraser

This one covering cape hillsborough and eungella national park. the highlights of the day (you might have seen them in daniel’s previous post) were : – roos in the yard at cape hillsborough – snake in the tree at cape hillsborough – platypus in the stream at eungella national park –…
Finally wifi is back. Now we are rolling out a few posts in a row. Might be a bit too much at a time, but you wouldn’t want to miss our Airlie Beach adventures, aye? 😉
… one more thing … today was a long driving day through -and i quote the travel guide- “probably the most boring stretch of queensland” and man, how right they were. good thing we decided to spend this day in the car to drive down from mackay all the way to hervey bay, where we…
…first day getting closer to some nice and also some creepy creatures here and last but not least in the bathtub of our house for tonight (cosmetic pad beside of it to compare the size):
… by its cover! A lesson we learned today 😉 After leaving airlie beach today, we visited cape hillsborough and eungella national park. Successful day as we had more wildlife encounters than the past two weeks … Roos, snakes, lizards, spiders … All in one day! Then we arrived at our stay for tonight ……
… at our place … … and its view 😉
… nice pad, limited wifi … So possibly no updates for the next couple of days. No worries though, nothing spectacular planned. Just some sailing and sky diving 😀
End of a crappy day … 😉
a beautiful and relaxing day at our nearly private bay comes to an end
breakfast in front of our new home here on the island… could be worse 😀
… even on wifi. video took longer than expected :p
…and on our way a few stops at Babinda Boulders and the Milla Milla Falls short break at beautiful Mission Beach: and after todays journey we arrived at Magnetic Island and got picked up by our host 😉

Today we picked up our new rental car and drove north to Daintree National Park. More greens, higher humidity and temperature than we had the last days. Oh, and how do you like our new roommate? He was waiting for us in the living room, when we came home form our trip.
… has come to an end, all complete with ferry ride and all. Now first load of laundry, pasta dinner and then early bedtime. Tomorrow is reef day, meaning a 630am wakeup call 😮
… not necessarily “… of our lives” but rather in the “red center”. … in particular at kings canyon. Next couple of days here in cairns for rainforrest, cable car, and maybe reef snorkling.
getting closer and hiking around Ayers Rock and through “The Olgas”: Kings Canyon photos…lots of photos 😉 and finally returning our first rental car at Alice Springs Airport… goodbye thirsty fella 😉 – heading off to Cairns:
… and moved into our first airbnb location … Nice !
… sleepy little place 😉 Waiting for our flight in the food court … … at this busy airport … … more, once we reach cairns.
… no wifi in the desert. Caught us by surprise, to be honest 😛 After two days in the depth of the australian outback, with no wifi, we are on our way to alice springs and then onward to our next section of our trip, cairns to sydney … More to come once we are…
Early rising, 18km hiking … 👍
Thanks to slightly off-centered body clock, it was not too bad to get up before sunrise … and the fact that we are still in the early days of spring here with somewhat humane sunrise times helped 😉 Here is the Uluru Sunrise video!
… there is free wifi 😀
…pre sunset
… to Uluru (Ayers Rock) first view out of the plane: steps on red ground towards rental car #1 with steering wheel on the wrong side 😉
