… with slight delay though, as our gate change in frankfurt was caused by a thunderstorm which basically brought large parts of the airport to a stand still for obvious reasons. i would not want to work among metal tubes and explosive fumes during a lightning storm either … but because of that, we had to wait on the plane for an additional hour before we could leave towards anchorage,  the path over greenland made up for that though.

and now we have finally arrived in anchorage. one of the few planes that arrive here this time of day.

indeed it is a different world here and now we can brace ourselves for a 23:16 sunset, followed by a whopping 4.5 hrs of “night” before the sun rises again at 4:16 tomorrow morning … 18.5 hrs of “day” … and that is not all, it will get even longer during our stay!
